Colonial Settlements in North America

During the middle Ages, persecution became the main trait of Europe. The individuals were subjects to violence. Governmental and social institutions were set against some groups of people whose social description was different, based on race and religion. Much legislation was issued against the people who displayed a tradition against the official laws. Robert L. Moore discussed thoroughly the suffering of medieval Europe in The Formation Of A Persecution Society: Power and Deviance In Western Europe 950-1250. Take the example of Alphonso II of Aragon ordered heretics to be expelled from his kingdom in 1194 and Peter II, Alphonso's successor decreed that they should be burned (Moore) .

Causes of World War I

World War I was not caused like most other wars. Airplanes weren't flown into buildings, ships weren't blown up and no one was invaded. Unlike all other wars, the circumstances that created World War I were politically more complex. When Bosnian revolutionary Gavrilo Princip assassinated Austrian Archduke, Franz Ferdinand and his wife on June 28th 1914 the world would be changed forever. Although this directly caused World War I, it also sparked Adolph Hitler's hatred and anger which led to World War II. Imperialism, Nationalism and Militarism are all also major causes of World War I

Arab-Israeli Conflict

Middle East has not known peace for many years; Israel-Arabic conflicts have seen many lives wasted as each camp argues its rights to the land in dispute. The cause of the conflicts is very complicated. The present Israel nation was originally Canaan and was conquered in 1250 B.C by the Jews. King Solomon reigned over the land from 961-922 B.C after which the land was split into two kingdoms. The southern region (Judah) was conquered by Babylonians who chased the residents (Jews) to exile.

Albert Camus

'Offering everything,' yet 'confirming nothing' are the words Albert Camus used to describe conflicting perspectives. A dense thicket of complication and falsity has always shrouded perspectives, a commodity exploited by the powerful institutions that govern society for individual profit and gain. Such conflicting perspectives, whether it be satirised in the form of the commercial media's journalistic integrity la Barry Levinson's film, Wag the Dog (1997), or the state's totalitarian abuse of the legal system as echoed in Franz Kafka's novel The Trial (1923) and contrasted within W.H. Auden's poem Law Like Love (1939), has led to an alarming message on the representations of perspectives especially when a profit or control-driven intermediary is involved.

A Critique of Linda Colley's Britons

In 1707, the Act of Union completed the political unity of England, Scotland, and Wales, declaring the three very culturally, economically, and politically different regions as Great Britain. For example, although Scotland and England were economically interdependent, they were still two culturally distinct, self-governing regions geographically divided by poor transport and navigation and long distance, therefore, many felt as if the union betrayed their regional independence. For more than one hundred years, the island's inhabitants struggled to find meaning behind their forced unity through changes within and influences without, and that struggle continues today as well.

Single European Mobile Market

In reference to the European Internal Market, the EC Treaty set out its four "fundamental freedoms": the free movement of goods, the free movement of services, the freedom of establishment for European Union companies and the free movement of capital. When it comes to a Single Market for Services, however, it is more difficult to ensure that services move freely across borders. This may partially be explained by the fact that "unlike goods, services are intangible and are not subject to custom duties"1. Moreover, due to their characteristics the free movement of services is to be treated differently from the free movement of goods.
