Attractive Centres for Foreign Direct Investment


According to the survey by International consultant firm Ernst and young India have fourth position in most attractive country and the preferred location for back office functions and call centre. The firm survey 2006, said the US and China top two preferred countries to remain for international decision makers.
In 2006 India’s rating is average with the last year, according the survey adding that the country still insulated behind china in attracting foreign direct investment.

A Challenge Ahead in Future Decade


UN has resolved the MDG in year 2000 in millennium development summit in New York, which the health related goal are at centre point & the main MDG at point 4 was resolved by 189 countries that by 2015 they will reduce the Child mortality by 2/3rd by taking baseline the 1990 data.
India was also one of 189 countries who resolved to achieve the target. India is an enormously big country in term of its size & population 2nd after China; there are different geographical conditions are prevailing in the country. 

Achieving Millennium Development Goals


With an estimated population of 1.2 billion, India is second populous country in the world. In last 2 decades, India performed well in economic growth. However, substantial performance is not seen regarding achieving MDG 4 and 5. Child & maternal mortality rates are still at unacceptable levels. The Under 5 mortality rate is 72 per 1000 live births (2007) and maternal mortality is 450 per 100000 live births (2005).
India was the first country in the world in responding to the health initiatives by launching family planning program.
