Determinants of Leadership and Team Performance


This dissertation is an exploratory research study of the determinants of Leadership and Team Performance. The study attempts to uncover what impact leadership has upon effective team performance in an organisation. In addition to that, it describes leadership theory together with the theory of team formation, followed by the link between leadership and team performance as it pertains to the success of the organisation.
The purpose of this research is to determine how a good leadership within a team can have an influence on its effective performance.

A strong brand provides the leadership, framework, and umbrella to focus all marketing and resources in a manner that will generate the greatest results. Achieving this objective is even more important if someone does not have a large budget. It lends the clarity, distinctiveness, and consistency to messages and experiences which provide a distinctive edge for getting products & services.
A strong brand identity enables retail business to launch more potent marketing programs and gain greater synergy from their efforts. Branding is all about differentiation and focus. And a large budget is not a prerequisite for these guiding forces.

Leadership Attributes

Are leaders born or made that is the question, however before I can determine this I must first describe the attributes/skills that a leader requires. The issue with attributes and skills is that an attribute is an inherent ability; a skill is an ability that is acquired. Leadership and ethics seems like such a broad topic to take on in a paper. Indeed what makes a great leader, what are the qualities/skills which are essential for leadership and which of those can be identified as essential or merely beneficial for low maintenance management. When managing what style of leadership can be identified as good bad or indeed negative and the potential effects of that management style. The author hopes to address the issue of whether leadership can be learned or is merely a natural attribute. Additionally the characteristics required to make a leader. (Maxwell, 2005).
