Government Media Propaganda

Governments across the world use various forms of media to manipulate and control the masses. Public opinion in both democracies and authoritarian states is influenced by a range of propaganda methods utilised by government and the regimes that they control. This study examines the effects of media as a tool for regime control and largely adopts the theoretical stance of the Frankfurt School - that media serves as a tool for maintaining the position of those in power and subduing the masses through a culture industry that entertains yet stimulates little in the way of debate about the political, economic and social order.

Media America Bias

Media bias is ever present and seemingly unavoidable in America today. No matter which outlet we choose to get our information, there always seems to be a slant or bias cleverly intermeshed with the truth. It can be a slippery slope to attempt to label the bias that exists. Many conservatives who attack the media as being liberal, do so because it has proven an effective weapon in weakening journalisms’ watchdog function.

Defamation Media Constitution

In a society that often prides itself on having a free and unbiased media, it is important to understand the limitations of such a freedom and the effects it has on a person's social rights. Different jurisdictions tend to embrace the concept of defamation in different ways. For example, the United States has the First Amendment in their Constitution, which has become famous through its abundant presence in popular culture that is based around American law. Australia has an implied freedom of political communication, which is not expressly provided for in their Constitution; however case law has seen effect given to such a value which is far more specific than the American Constitution.
