Cyanosis is associated with the lack of oxygen in the blood. Cyanosis comes from the word element cyan/o which means blue. Cyanosis makes the skin appear to be blue, because of the lack of oxygen in the blood vessels or tissues that are closest to the skin. Tissues are filled with dark deoxygenated blood, instead of bright oxygenated blood. Cyanosis can be caused by lung cancer, circulation problems, heart disease, an infection, it can be inherited, or environmental factors can cause cyanosis.
Main symtpoms of cyanosis is the blueish color of blood, instead of red. Also the appearance of blue or purpleish lips, hands or feet.
