Equality and Discrimination

Every democratic country's laws and constitution, have inherent in it somewhere or the other, a law that entitles all of its citizens to be given free and equal treatment. From United Kingdom to Nigeria, or from one of the world's largest democracy India, to Australia. All countries guarantee to its citizens the right against discrimination.
Gilmore and Williams (2009) define discrimination as the means to distinguish between one thing and another. In terms of people, to discriminate means to choose one person over another based on something that is irrelevant. This discrimination can be on grounds of age, sex, marital status, gender, race, religion, belief, sexual orientation etc.
