The health care sector is a huge business in today’s day and age – it is a multi-billion dollar industry and as such it needs to be managed as well as possible to maximise its effectiveness, efficiency and costs. One of the newer ideas is evidence-based management, i.e. using recent research data which demonstrates methods that do and do not work in the management of the various parts of the health industry. This concept has been a natural follow-on from the use of evidence in clinical areas for treating patients. So, has evidence-based management been accepted and put into service to the extent that evidence-based clinical practice has been?
