Managing change effectively is difficult enough with its attendant uncertainties and problems along the way. It requires an understanding both of what is seems likely to happen and of how people react to change, and a skill full management performance. One must energize and motivate, build cohesion, create a sense of pace and timing, and provide a skilled performance while sustaining the performance of others. To manage change effectively involves ability to create a new synthesis of people, resources, ideas, opportunities, and demands. The managers need skill rather like those of an orchestral conductor. Vision is essential and creativity paramount.
