Craig Venter received his B.S. degree in Bio-chemistry in the year 1972, from the Community College, College of San Mateo in California. In 1975, Venter received his Ph.D. Degree for Physiology as well as Pharmacology, both from the University of California, San Diego. Although, as a student he had not shown keen interest in studies but being against the Vietnam War, he was selected for United States Navy where he served in the intensive care ward of a field hospital. His desire to study medicine arose when he saw hundreds of soldiers getting maimed, wounded and dying. But later on, he expanded his interest in scientific research.
