An evaluation of treatments for depression and the relative costing to the NHS in the last 10 Years


To assess the drugs that has been used to treat depression in the last 10 years. To study any changes which may have occurred in the medical treatment of depression and to measure the relative costing of the medical treatment for depression to the NHS
Depression is a leading cause of disability through out the world and fourth leading cause of disability among all diseases and is responsible for 4.4 % of total disability adjusted life years. Globally, about one sixth of men and one fourth to one third of women suffers from depression at some time in their life. The most severe outcome of depression is suicide which increases the rate of morbidity and mortality from somatic diseases.
