In my essay I am going to analyze Canada's role in the First World War, the Grand Offensive, supported by analyzing their role in the major battles. I am also going to investigate the causes, events and results of their participation in one of the most devastating wars in human history. I am going to argue that Canada had a vital role in the Grand Offensive in defeating the German Imperial Army. As the Dominion of Newfoundland was not part of the Dominion of Canada at the time of the war, and as the 1st Newfoundland Regiment (also known as Royal Newfoundland Regiment) did not take part in the Grand Offensive, I am not going to take a look at them in my essay.
