The three faces of power are differing ideologies to determine the paramount definition of power. They have been fiercely contested by theorists who each support an individual face. The first face of power concerns the aspect of decision making advocated by Robert Dahl. Agenda setting is the dominant characteristic in the second face of power supported by theorists Bachrach and Baratz, while the third face of power, endorsed by Steven Lukes, argues that his definition to be most credible as he describes power being enforced through thought control and has had the ability to build upon the first two faces.
